A Helping Hand Digest #40

Sincere Gratitude to Ukraine TrustChain for Assistance

In a community in the Kharkiv region, war has brought immense pain and trials. From the very first days, people found themselves in conditions for which no one was prepared. Occupation, the loss of connection with other settlements, shortages of food, and essential supplies for survival became our new reality.

People baked bread from grain, ground flour by hand, made unleavened flatbreads, and extracted oil from seeds themselves to feed their families somehow. The hardest part was seeing families with children rationing one loaf of bread over several days.

In these darkest moments, the assistance provided was truly a lifeline. Every kilogram of flour, sugar, or yeast delivered by volunteers over a damaged bridge was shared among people, albeit in small portions. People understood the importance of standing together and supporting one another.

Today, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Ukraine TrustChain for providing firewood. At a time when winter reminds us of its cold, this help not only warms people’s homes but also their hearts. Thank you for not leaving people to face challenges alone. Your support gives faith that no one is truly alone and that goodness is stronger than any trials.

Thanks to Ukraine TrustChain for Supporting and Believing in the People of Kherson Region

Sometimes, everything starts with a simple phone call. Someone asks for help, and you don’t yet know how deeply their story will touch your heart. This is what happened with Mr. Vyacheslav. He called to ask for help dealing with mice. But after hearing his exhausted voice and learning that he lived on a street devastated by the Kakhovka HPP explosion, we couldn’t wait a month. We decided to visit him the next day.

What we saw was beyond comprehension: a ruined house, a collapsed wall, and evidence of artillery shelling. Living in such conditions was nearly impossible. We not only addressed Vyacheslav’s rodent problem but also started discussing more important matters—his future. We offered him relocation to a safer place, and this proposal gave him hope.

The next day, despite another round of shelling, we moved Vyacheslav to a hostel we had arranged earlier. He received food, candles, and support. Now he has a roof over his head and is awaiting the restoration of his documents to start a new life.

This story is just part of what we accomplished in a week with the help of Ukraine TrustChain:
— Fueled 14 generators;
— Conducted rodent control in 11 locations, including 4 large basements;
— Performed pest control in 3 locations;
— Relocated Vyacheslav from a destroyed house to a safe place;
— Delivered candles and food to those in need.

This aid is the result of the hard work of many people who care about others’ destinies. Thank you, Ukraine TrustChain, for enabling not just assistance but life-changing actions, restoring hope and faith in kindness.

Supporting Donetsk Oblast in the Most Difficult Times

In November, the team of volunteers from the “Step with Hope” Charitable Foundation traveled to Donetsk region, visiting the cities of Rodynske, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, and Kostyantynivka. The main purpose was to provide humanitarian aid and psychological support.

Today, Donetsk region is “the calm before the storm.” During the day, it seems quiet, but nighttime shelling intensifies. Pokrovsk especially felt the impact, with heavy shells devastating entire districts. In Kramatorsk, where we spent two nights, we experienced the force of rocket attacks but fortunately could continue our work.

This trip highlighted an acute need for hygiene supplies in the region. We are trying to meet these urgent needs as they arise.

The road presented its challenges. With Pokrovsk closed, we had to use rural roads, which have become almost impassable due to heavy traffic. Potholes appear, and overhanging branches damage vehicles. Despite the difficulties, we continue to work with the transportation available to us.

The city of Rodynske left a lasting impression, reminiscent of Bakhmut. After a strike on a mine, electricity, gas, and water were cut off. People are forced to survive in a ghost town. We delivered bread, which was met with heartfelt gratitude. This city clearly needs more frequent visits with aid.

Key accomplishments:
— Assisted Valentyn Petrovych from Kostyantynivka by providing him with eyeglasses, unavailable in the city due to closed opticians;
— Evacuated one individual from Rodynske;
— Delivered warm clothing for children in Druzhkivka: hats, sweaters, and jackets;
— Continued organizing workshops for children.

Sincere Gratitude to Ukraine TrustChain for Free Water

Water is a vital necessity, and your assistance to the residents of Nikopol and Marhanets has been a true lifeline. Thanks to Ukraine TrustChain, many families now have access to drinking water, which is especially crucial amid ongoing challenges and shelling.

In Marhanets, where many elderly people reside, your support is invaluable. Over the past week alone, 3,000 liters of drinking water were distributed, providing hundreds of people with this essential resource.

Additionally, you continue to bring joy to children with sweets, offering them a moment of happiness and care in these trying times. This is particularly important for children who, due to the war, lack access to their usual schools, kindergartens, and extracurricular activities.

Thank you for your care, openness, and daily efforts to support those who need it most. You bring hope and make life easier for thousands. We wish your organization success and your team health, resilience, and strength to continue this vital mission. Ukraine TrustChain, you are our pillar of support during these tough times!

Gratitude to MCC for Psychological Assistance to Displaced Persons in Pavlohrad

Displaced persons forced to leave their homes face numerous challenges, including finding housing, financial struggles, lack of basic amenities, and psychological strain. In these circumstances, MCC‘s support has been a real salvation.

Through its collaboration with MCC, the foundation provides comprehensive psychosocial assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable social groups, who especially need support after missile attacks and other traumatic events.

In November, volunteers from the NGO “MBF Step with Hope” organized several trips to Kryvyi Rih and the Kryvyi Rih and Sofiivka districts. The primary goals included:

Providing psychological assistance: Helping individuals who have experienced shelling and loss overcome stress, fear, and regain confidence in the future.

Rehabilitation support: Assisting in emotional recovery and stabilizing mental health.

Additionally, with MCC’s support, the foundation facilitated the delivery of humanitarian aid. In total, around 2 tons of supplies were distributed, including:
— Fresh bread, an essential resource during these challenging times;
— Food packages to meet the basic needs of people;
— Medicines for those in need of medical care.

The activities of the NGO “MBF Step with Hope” have become a vital source of support for residents of Kryvyi Rih and the surrounding areas as they cope with the consequences of the war. Thanks to MCC’s assistance, thousands of people received not only material support but also hope for a better future. The foundation continues to ensure that everyone in need feels cared for and is not left alone with their problems.

Gratitude to MCC for Psychological Support

A heartfelt thank you for your care and psychological assistance.
In the city of Kamianske, the volunteer center, supported by MCC, provides invaluable psychological support to IDPs and residents facing difficult life circumstances.

Special gratitude is expressed for organizing group meetings:

Teen group: Discussing ways to pause and reflect in challenging situations, while learning to assess their emotional state.

Creative sessions for children: Encouraging them to dream and imagine their future, particularly through the theme “Who will you become?”

Women’s group “Berehynia”: Offering a platform for mutual support and discovering inner resources to overcome hardships.

My name is Olena, and I came from Kostiantynivka with my family when it became unsafe to stay at home. Thanks to your help, we were able to adapt and receive moral support. People forced to leave everything behind deeply appreciate your attention and care.

Thank you, MCC, for your assistance, which allows us to recover emotionally and feel less alone in these difficult times.

Gratitude to Restoring Vision for Free Glasses

Thank you for restoring the ability to see clearly.
Thanks to the organization Restoring Vision, many IDPs and low-income individuals in the city of Kamianske received free glasses, which became a lifeline for their vision.

Tetiana, 65 years old, a resident of Avdiivka, expresses her gratitude for the quality glasses that now allow her to read and handle daily tasks. Along with her daughter and grandchildren, she was forced to leave her destroyed home and now rents an apartment. Your help for her is not just care but a piece of normal life.

Similarly, Valentyna Karpivna, 84 years old, an IDP from Toretsk, shares that thanks to the glasses, she can see clearly again. For elderly individuals who find themselves alone in a foreign city, your support is a true comfort and help in everyday life.

Thank you, Restoring Vision, for giving people the chance to see the world in its full clarity, even in the hardest moments of life!
