The Firewood Project – Our Warmest Initiative

Thanks to Ukraine TrustChain, last week we were able to provide firewood assistance to families in the Kupiansk district, particularly in the villages of Arkadiivka, Husyn, Prosiaky, and the urban-type settlement of Shevchenkove.

These families relocated from Kupiansk and the Donetsk region. They live in challenging conditions, relying on stove heating and having only a few hours of electricity per day. They tend to their gardens, raise chickens and goats, and draw water from wells. Everyone is deeply grateful for the assistance they receive. This time, 8 tons of firewood were delivered.

Stories of Those Who Received Help

A Grandfather and His Grandchildren.
The man lost his daughter during a missile strike. Two children remained, and the grandfather took them under his care. They now live in Shevchenkove and rely on stove heating. The firewood provided to this family became a true lifeline during the winter cold.

A Woman Without Documents.
A woman originally from Moldova, around 70 years old, worked for a farmer who took away her passport and other documents. When the war began, the farmer left, leaving her without any means of survival. Acquaintances helped her find shelter in an old house near Rozdolne. However, due to the lack of documents, she cannot receive a pension or other assistance. Thanks to the aid provided, she received firewood for heating.

Despite all the hardships, these people remain resilient and are endlessly grateful to those who have not forgotten them during such a difficult time.
